The Bureau of Finance and Management is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join our team as ERP Project Coordinator for Project BISON. This unique opportunity, located in Pierre, South Dakota, puts you at the forefront of a transformative initiative to implement a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial solution.

Project BISON is not just an ERP implementation; it's a bold step toward modernizing and defining the financial infrastructure for decades to come. The transition to this state-of-the-art ERP system allows the chosen candidate to make a lasting impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes within the State of South Dakota. While this position is initially tied to Project BISON through the completion of the implementation (roughly 18 months), it offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and potential for long-term employment within the Bureau of Finance and Management or another State of South Dakota department.

As ERP Project Coordinator, your responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling, organizing, and facilitating ERP-related meetings, including tracking action items and follow-ups to ensure project progress.
  • Maintaining and updating project documentation, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinating communication between ERP project stakeholders, including state agencies, vendors, and consultants.
  • Assisting in monitoring project milestones and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Supporting the ERP team in preparing reports, presentations, and status updates.
  • Participating in system design sessions and working sessions to document project needs.
  • Assisting with the organization of training sessions and materials for ERP system users.
  • Performing administrative support functions, such as tracking project risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Attending and contributing to Project BISON meetings as needed.
  • Other ERP-related job duties, as assigned.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A college degree; or
  • Relevant experience in project coordination or ERP implementation.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • experience in scheduling and coordinating meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes.
  • familiarity with ERP systems and project management principles (preferred but not required).
  • knowledge of basic financial principles (preferred but not required).
  • ability to analyze and document processes and workflows.
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management tools.
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.


This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
