Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park- Mandan – Historical/Cultural Interpreter 

Full-time/Part-time (15-40 hours/week) 

Starting at $15-$17 per hour 

 

Are you passionate about history and love sharing stories that inspire others? If you enjoy engaging with people and bringing history to life, we want YOU to join our team as a Historical/Cultural Interpreter at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park! In this role, you’ll create interactive programs and tours that showcase the fascinating history and culture of the area. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

 

Create and Present Programs: Lead interactive, hands-on tours and activities that bring history to life for visitors. 

Research and Develop Content: Dive into the past to craft engaging programs for a wide range of audiences, from school groups to history buffs. 

Facilitate Discussions: Guide lively discussions that help visitors connect with the historical and cultural significance of the park. 

Adapt for Different Audiences: Tailor programs to suit all ages and backgrounds, ensuring everyone leaves with a deeper understanding of the area. 

Work Outdoors: Deliver programs in various settings, including outdoor amphitheaters and historical sites – sometimes in period uniforms!

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED (or currently in school). 

Strong communication skills: Ability to clearly share stories and information with people of all ages and backgrounds. 

Passion for history and the ability to convey historical and cultural knowledge in a fun, engaging way. 

Comfortable working outdoors: Willing to work in varied terrain and weather conditions (period uniforms may be required). 

Must be at least 18 years old.
