Position Title: Outside Plant CAD Drafter
Department: Drafting
Reports To: Drafting Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Summary:
This position will be based out of the headquarters office in Bismarck, ND. This position is intended for an individual who has training or experience using multi-software platforms for geospatial related drafting tasks. Skills include, but are not limited to using AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to complete project related drafting
- Utilize initial rough designs, preparing working documents through guidance of processes and procedures
- Basic understanding of the concept or have experience compiling sheet sets through software use tools
- Perform varied data gathering and entry to create, display, maintain, and update databases, coverages, and linkages to various Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases
- Use techniques to manipulate, extract, locate and analyze geographic data using buffers, clipping, joining tables, and managing relationship classes
- Produce geospatial exhibits or maps for project related needs
- Have a strong work ethic, able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast-paced environment
- Regular, reliable, consistent, and punctual attendance is required
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job function or as assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AutoCAD commands, including block editing, 1-2 years related work minimal and/or knowledge of ArcGIS Pro Map Layouts, Online publishing and geodatabase function, 1-2 years related work minimal
- Knowledge of QGIS as alternate platform to ArcGIS Pro
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, utilized for plan and profiles
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures, products, and services
- Knowledge of company safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate well with a positive & friendly manner both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate the ability to accept responsibility for and work under occasional stressful situations with frequent interruptions
- Demonstrate the desire to learn new skills as technologies change
- Demonstrate the ability to multi-task
- Perform other duties and responsibilities to fulfill job function or as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in drafting related field and/or associate or bachelor’s degree in geography. Related work experience preferred but not required.
