The hiring range is $27.98-$30.88/hour with full earning potential up to $40.51/hour.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Educate veterans and dependents on eligibility and details of benefits, helping complete forms for VA or state benefits.

  • Obtain required documents for claims, manage records, and stay updated on changing laws.

  • Present benefit information individually and in public forums.

  • Contribute to veteran program development, contacting relevant parties for services/resources.

  • Attend meetings, training, and collaborate with colleagues in Human Services and related agencies.

  • Participate in Veterans Stand Down and Veterans Court Committee, and may cross-train with Caseworkers.

  • Handle confidential veteran information, requiring high integrity to ensure privacy.
  • Conduct outreach to veterans and families, connecting them to community resources.

What You Need to Succeed in this Role

Must be a veteran as defined in SDCL 33A-2-1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or related human service field and two years of relevant experience. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid driver's license and must maintain a safe driving record with Minnehaha County. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.
